Los Angeles International Airport Information

Los Angeles International Airport lies about 15 miles southwest of central Los Angeles and is the busiest airport on the Pacific Coast of the USA, used by more than 60 million people in 2004 alone. LAX as Los Angeles International is generally known is one of the largest airports in the world, occupying more than fourteen square kilometres of land on the coast.

The airport has been in constant use for nearly 80 years, and boasts one of the most iconic terminal buildings in the world - the retro futuristic Theme building, which due to the position of Los Angeles as the heart of the American film industry has become a popular backdrop to many movies.

Getting to and from the airport from Los Angeles is a similar matter, although because of how busy the traffic along the highways of southern California, it can take up to two hours to make the journey to the airport from the main hotels in Los Angeles.
